This weekend, there are some great gaming conventions going on in different parts of the world. We do our best to make sure Gamewright is present at all of the top gaming events, whether it’s a booth, a tournament, a meet-and-greet with inventors of our games, or even just Gamewright employees attending the event to check out all of the excitement!
Internationale Spieltage, often called Essen after the city in Germany where it is held, is an annual four-day game trade fair held in October at the Messe Essen exhibition centre, this year from October 20-23. It is currently the biggest gaming convention for board games, card games and role-playing games in the world. The fair often has over 130,000 guests throughout the week! Designers and publishers attend to show off their newest games, retailers sell games at discount, and there is a large flea market with a wide range of new and used games. You may even German versions of some Gamewright games there, including Forbidden Island! This is certainly an event that we here at Gamewright look forward to attending every year. Check out the Essen FAQ at BoardGameGeek to learn all you need to know about the #1 gaming convention!
Another convention that’s starting to get some buzz is CharCon in Charleston, West Virginia. It will be held this weekend from October 21-23 and will feature tournaments, a game library, role-playing games, and more! Our new game City Square Off will be featured in a tournament sponsored by Lost Legion Games & Comics on Sunday the 23rd, so be sure to check it out if you’re in the area! The inventor of the game, Ted Cheatham, will be at the event all three days to sign copies and teach attendees how to play.
