Gamewright’s 2011 Games – Have You Played Them All?

Let’s start things off by announcing the winner of last week’s giveaway for a free copy of Knock Your Blocks Off! Congratulations to Shana E. – she’ll be receiving this awesome new game.

Since so many of you have been asking about when new games will be ready to ship, I thought I’d recap this week to remind everyone about ALL of the great new games for 2011 that are now available! The holidays will creep up before we know it, so don’t forget about the fun selection we have available this year. These games have already been winning multiple awards from well-known organizations such as The National Parenting Center, Dr. Toy, and the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio.

Splish Splash!
Jump right into this lively game that’s sure to make a splash! Roll the die and then drop the wooden pebble into the pond. Did any colorful shapes splash out? If so, match them up to your playing board. Be the first to fill up your board and then dry off with a win!

Mermaid Beach
Soak up the fun down at Mermaid Beach! Swim along with Swirly Shirley, Betsy Bubbles, Rip Rider, and a colorful cast of undersea characters as you try to collect the most seashell cards. Watch out for sneaky waves and icky seaweed along the way. Most of all – don’t get caught holding the sea monster at the end of the game!

City Square Off
Go head-to-head against your opponent in this tactical game of city planning. Draw a shape card and then simultaneously try to fit the matching tile into your city grids. Plot wisely, as you must always have space to play your next piece. Build your city without going over the limits and consider yourself the master planner!

FlipOut
Flip out for this colorful card game of back-to-back excitement! Switch, swap, and flip cards in order to get at least four-of-a-kind in a row. Sounds easy, but the cards in your hand are not necessarily your own! Every card is double-sided, so anyone can take and use any card in sight. Collect the most cards and, no matter how you look at it, you win!

Knock Your Blocks Off
Stack ‘em up … Knock ‘em down! First, race to build a structure by matching up the patterns on your blocks. Then use the battle die to knock off your opponent’s crown! Depending on your roll, you may get to attack with an avalanche of boulders, a wall-smashing ogre, or even a fire-breathing dragon! Rack up the most victory points and crown yourself king of the block.

GUBS
Welcome, you who have chanced to look beneath the dewy clover to uncover the secret struggles of the Gubs. Behold this clever card game that casts you in an epic contest to build the mightiest Gub colony. Seek wisdom from The Esteemed Elder or protection from a Toad Rider as you fend off a myriad of traps, lures, and other surprising events. Victory lies down an ever-changing path and no one is safe until the final card falls!

Joe Name It
Can you name a movie with 2 sequels? How about a music group with 3 members? Test your numbers know-all in this fast-playing “name it to claim it” party game. Draw a category card and then fill in the blank with the number you rolled. Be the first person to name something that fits and you’re smarter than the average Joe!

Who Would Win
Who would win a hot dog eating contest: Donald Trump or Albert Einstein? Settle this and other timeless debates in this hilarious party game of improbable celebrity matchups. Draw cards and then convince the judge why your character would win a randomly chosen event. Get the most votes and there’s no debate who wins the game!
