It’s hard to believe that we’ve been Toy Fair exhibitors for 16 years! Since I’ve only been around for 3 of those years, I was curious to see what our booth looked like during Gamewright’s very first year exhibiting. Well, I’ll wonder no more, because here are some pre-digital photos:
Wow, have we grown! This year, we debuted eight new games and 37 new puzzle series. I have to say, the entire line-up was very well received, but here are a few highlights.
We had a few new faces stop by our booth this year, like Rory of Rory’s Story Cubes. We knew Rory’s Story Cubes was a hit, but it was extra exciting to hear it echoed from all the buyers who stopped by the booth. Rory’s Story Cubes continues to fly off store shelves…I wonder how many stories have been told to date?
Here’s a fun interview all about story-telling with Rory and The Toy Queen:
Cole and Alex Medeiros, the inventors of our new 2011 game GUBS, also showed off their game at the booth. Everyone loved the rich illustrations (especially the adorable Gubs characters) and it was fun to see people get hooked on the game after the first round.
Tom McDonald, Editor-at-Large of the highly regarded Games Magazine had lots of nice things to say about Gamewright’s new line-up. It seemed we quenched his thirst for family games and water. 😉
Speaking of water, Mermaid Beach made it’s debut at Toy Fair as Gamewright’s second kid-invented game (Sleeping Queens being the first). Folks loved the theme and fun game play. The imaginative characters like Muscle Mark and Evil Eva gave everyone a laugh. By the way, the kid-inventor, Emily Ehlers, just did a presentation all about Mermaid Beach to a Girl Scout Troop in her area. Check out the adorable inspiration board she created! Nice work, Emily!
